FV Hospital is an international standard general hospital located in Saigon South, just 15 minutes from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. It is a 100% foreign-owned care facility, offering a wide range of medical & surgical services under one roof. It is equipped to care for patients from consultation & diagnosis through the completion of treatment. FV Hospital is equipped throughout with the latest medical technology.

Doctors can feel like they are working in a French University hospital but situated in Vietnam: medical meetings (“staffs”) are organised weekly in various specialties (Oncology, Internal Medicine, Accident & Emergency) to discuss cases and decide treatment plans, conferences and seminars are held in the 120-seat auditorium, the nursing staff has been trained intensively, doctors are assisted by Medical Secretaries who have the responsibility to arrange patients’ appointments, to prepare patients file, to translate French or English languages and to generally be the assistant of the doctors. They have also access to a digitalised Medical Library where almost all medical journals in the world can be read in an unlimited way.

Vietnamese doctors can also work alongside with well-known French, Belgian and Swiss specialists who come regularly at FVH. Working at FVH is therefore working in a multi-cultural environment and to be given the possibility to have access to the latest medical innovations and techniques in many fields.

Organization of FVH

FV Hospital has been conceived like a state-of-the-art French hospital adjusted to the Vietnamese environment. It is organised in several departments under the authority of the Medical Director and the supervision of the Medical Advisory Board which is composed of 10 elected doctors. Heads of Departments are either French or Vietnamese.

Schematically the hospital can be divided into:

• A Diagnosis Centre composed a various consultations, a 24h/24 Accident & Emergency department (with French-made 2 ambulances), backed up by a very modern laboratory and a sophisticated imaging centre opened 24/24;
• A Medical Centre: from GP to Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastro-Enterology;
• A Paediatric Centre with all services including UNSC and NICU;
• An Maternity & Gynaecology Centre;
• A Surgical Centre: General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery, Urology, ENT, OPH, Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Neuro-Surgery should be started in 2006;
• An Oncology Centre with dedicated CT scanner, high-tech dosimetry and linear accelerator staffed with especially-trained technicians and with a French-trained specialised Physicist.

As a “concerned citizen”, FVH policy has been structured to contribute to the larger Vietnamese medical community; for this reason the FVH Partners Programme was initiated to allow Vietnamese doctors to practice and co-operate in various ways with FVH.

FVH is now attracting the most famous Vietnamese specialists who are more and more to routinely choose to operate on their patients in the modern FVH Operating Theatre.

Referring Doctors

Referring Doctors are not working at the FVH and not granted admission privilege. They regularly refer patients to FVH either for investigations (imaging, biology), procedure (endoscopy, lithotripsy) or to a FVH Doctor for admission and treatment in medicine, surgery or oncology. FVH provides them with professional medical reports in a timely manner. All patients are always referred back to the referring doctors

External Doctors

An External Doctor is a specialist who is not employed by FVH but can treat, operate and deliver his own patients at the FVH. The External Doctor is supported by our whole team including medical secretaries, Operating Theatre staff, anaesthetists and FVH’s doctors and he is granted admission and prescription rights. Naturally, External Doctors are selected only from amongst the finest Vietnamese doctors available. The assistant to the Medical Director is their contact with FVH and who will arrange appointments for them, schedule the surgical procedure and make sure that administrative formalities are in order. External Doctors, when they practice at the FV Hospital, are covered by our medical malpractice insurance policy. They can also have privileged access for themselves and their relatives to Vietnam Care which is a personal medical insurance coverage that FV Hospital offers to all its staff.

Associate Doctors

Associate Doctors are EDs who have been granted the privilege to have a consultation at FVH. Associate Doctors are chosen among the most famous Vietnamese specialists.

The FVH Liaison Office

The FVH Liaison Office (Direct phone line: (84-8) 54 11 34 20, fax number: (84-8) 54 11 34 13) operates as a one stop pre-arrangement centre for the Referring and External Doctors, providing assistance and support services to patients for doctors’ appointments, medical enquiries, pre-surgical anaesthesia consultation, pre-admission and admission procedures, timing of both hospitalisation and of the surgical procedure (including but not limited to booking of hospital beds and the operating theatre).
