The FV Hospital Laboratory & Blood Bank provides a comprehensive range of general laboratory tests requested by physicians for diagnosis, management and prevention of a wide variety of diseases. The FVH Laboratory is segmented by function, such as microbiology, haematology, chemistry, and blood banking. All tests are performed utilizing an impressive array of state-of-the-art machines and analyzers connected to a central LIS (Laboratory Information System). This technology ensures that the tests requested are correct and the results received are accurately matched to avoid possible errors. This system automatically compares the tests results to previous patient's results, when available.

- Histopathology, Cytopathology and Clinical Pathology
Professional agreements for some tests that we out-sourced are active with world-renowned diagnostic laboratory facilities in France and Thailand, and to specialist laboratories in Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Pasteur Institute. Such exceptions include the following:
- Triple Test – for pregnant women – screening test to estimate the risk of Down’s syndrome. The test is done around 15-18 weeks of amenorrhea
- Fibro Test – for people who have viral hepatitis. A blood test done to avoid a liver procedure, to estimate the level of fibrosis. This method is less invasive than a liver procedure.
- Viral genic amplification in blood sample (such as Epstein Barr Virus -EBV, Cytomegalovirus, Hepatitis Virus, HIV) - which is a direct detection and/or its quantification by genome amplification.
For histopathology and clinical pathology we work with Hi-Tech, the international pathology laboratory based in Bangkok, Thailand.
Tests performed by FV Hospital Laboratory comply with current international standard laboratory requirements; these are the same testing procedures and requirements as are utilized in France; for example, the quality control of all tests, and the double determination for blood groups. To ensure that the equipment, technologies and software are performing at optimal levels; the internal Quality Control of such machines and equipment is performed daily. The level of accuracy is maintained by monitoring a control blood sample. Each month, the accuracy of equipment is further tested, externally, by sending a control blood sample to an international monitoring facility in Australia. FV Hospital Laboratory is a participating member of the RPCA Australian external quality assurance programme.
The Department's philosophy and purpose is dedicated to providing reliable test results and analysis to insure timely patient care on a 24-hour, continuous service basis.
