Endocrinology is a sub-specialty within the field of internal medicine, dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of the disorders and diseases associated with dysfunction of the endocrine system and its specific secretions called hormones.

Typical diseases treated in this field are diabetes, thyroid conditions, cholesterol disorders, adrenal and pituitary glands, hormonal disorders causing infertility, weight problems, low blood sugar, lack of development and low blood pressure. The services provided by the FV Hospital Endocrinology Department include consultations, diagnostic evaluation, hormone tests, nuclear scanning, thyroid surgery, nutritional evaluation, follow-up consultations, and counselling.

In treating patients at FVH, the Endocrinology Team works in collaboration with other hospital departments such as General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Laboratory, Nuclear Medicine, Imaging, etc, to obtain precise results from tests undertaken and to find the best plan of treatment for the patient in accordance with recognized international standards.
