General Surgery is often known as the Core discipline: it encompasses surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands, breast surgery, abdominal surgery, including surgery of the intestinal tract, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and spleen; as well as, operations for cancer and many difficult and painful conditions in between. The general surgeon must treat a devastating litany of diseases that threaten people's lives and health. 

Correct and timely diagnosis of a patient’s condition is paramount. Diagnosis of ailments is achieved using the clinical experience of our doctors together with the investigations provided by both our Laboratory and our Imaging Centre (CT Scanner and Ultrasound studies). We also work with internationally renowned laboratories in France, Malaysia and Singapore.

Treatment is performed by a team of highly trained professionals, doctors and nurses alike. The General Surgery Department at FV Hospital routinely utilizes advanced surgical techniques, such as minimally invasive surgery laparoscopy (also called “coelioscopy”) and thoracoscopy that allows for shorter recovery time, minimizes complications leaves almost no scar, and reduces cost.
