The FVH Department of Orthopaedics & Hand Surgery is a modern, well-equipped department with a team of full-time surgeons and on-duty doctors available after hours, 7 days a week. Three different surgery disciplines are performed within the department: lower limb surgery; spine surgery and hand surgery (which includes the entire upper limb from the hand to the shoulder).

The department treats both scheduled surgeries and emergency surgeries. Emergency cases are trauma patients, for example, victims of high-energy, blunt-force injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents, falls, motorcycle accidents, factory work-related accidents, athletes with sporting injuries, etc. 

Our operating theatres comply with international standards, as do the strict sterilization procedures, to minimize infectious complications. The department works closely with the Physiotherapy Department, to aid patient recovery from any related orthopaedic surgery. 

At FV Hospital, patients are informed of their condition and the type of treatment required and the progress, each step of the way, depending on the nature of the disease, injury or disorder.  Patients are encouraged to ask questions of their doctor, at any time, should they require further insight.
