FVH Orthopaedic & Hand Surgery team is on duty 24-hours a day. A senior surgeon, supported by a highly trained specialist team and nursing staff, is ready to treat any such emergency. Our team ranks amongst the best in South-East Asia. The team works in conjunction with the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team and the Accident & Emergency Department.

Our team also works in conjunction with the Imaging Department, and the Sports Medicine specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as, bone fractures, joint dislocations, ligament tears, and tendon tears, etc…  We also treat the after-effects of such injuries, including non-unions (fractures that do not heal), mal-unions (fractures that do not heal in the correct alignment), infections, and leg-length discrepancies.

Many trauma or critically injured patients sustain injuries not only to bones but also to other parts of their bodies, therefore the orthopaedics team often works closely with the general and vascular surgeons in cases of abdominal trauma, of complex soft-tissue injuries or for injuries involving blood vessels. 

Over 30% of surgical emergency cases are related to hand injuries. The FVH hand surgery emergency assistance is modelled after the renowned “SOS Main” (“SOS Hand”) service in France and is designed to provide 24-hour access to senior hand surgeons and specialized equipment, such as microscopes and surgical instruments for artery, nerve, and tendon repair, as well as re-implantation. This service covers minor traumas to the hand, such as sprains and cuts, as well as, serious injuries, such as broken arms and traumatic amputation.
