Services and Treatments

Our consultation rooms are fully-equipped with the latest technology: endoscopy, video cameras and TV monitors, audiometry to test hearing acuity.

Ear-Related Conditions

Hearing Conditions

Hearing loss, chronic or acute, unilateral or bilateral can greatly affect the quality of life. Utilising the most up-to-date diagnostic equipment and facilities, the FVH Team of specialists, in consultation with our partner specialists from France, will analyze the extent of your hearing condition.

Middle ear surgery is performed to correct a number of hearing disorders from hearing loss and infection, to deformities and tumours. Tympanoplasty is the most common middle ear surgical procedure and is performed by our experienced ENT surgeons, particularly in treating otosclerosis, a major cause of hearing loss. This condition occurs when the small bones of the middle ear harden, preventing the ear from properly conducting sound.

Our surgeons have had impressive results in restoring hearing, using advanced surgical procedures and ear bone prosthesis.

The Department also treats hearing impairment using the latest digital hearing aid devices. Advanced digital hearing aids give the patient the opportunity to hear again and to return to a normal life.

Congenital Ear Abnormalities and deformities can be treated by simple surgical procedures.

Ear Infections,
Otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear) and others, so common particularly with kids can all be treated safely in our department.

Balance Disorders, Dizziness and Vertigo

Accurate diagnosis is essential for effective treatment to be undertaken. Using advanced diagnostic techniques to evaluate patients suffering dizziness, vertigo and other balance disorders, the ENT Department specialists can recommend the best treatment to alleviate your symptoms, enable you to gain control and return to a normal life.

Vertigo is a subjective sensation of movement – a patient may feel that he or she is revolving or, that the objects in the room are circling. It is a symptom that can appear in many different illnesses but is not a disease unto itself. Vertigo may be brought on by influenza or viral infection, advanced age, neurovascular sclerosis, post neurovascular stroke and cardiovascular disorders. However, 50% of vertigo cases originate in the inner ear (which controls balance) and can be treated by a physiotherapist trained in a specific technique, providing spectacular results : the majority of patients fully recover after only three sessions.

Nose & Sinus Conditions

  • Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty, and Cosmetic Surgery of the nose are routinely performed by our ENT surgeons.
  • Sinus and Allergy Treatment – the FVH ENT Department offers multiple forms of treatment for patients with allergies or sinus problems. Our specialist team can prescribe an effective course of medication, or recommended immunotherapy (allergy shots), or a combination of both. Should surgery be required, our specialists are experienced in the most effective surgical procedures, to help patients recover from chronic and pronounced sinus difficulties.
  • Sense of Smell Disorders, Rhinitis & Other Chronic Conditions are also treated at FV Hospital

Cancers of the throat and neck area can cause shortness of breath and difficulty in swallowing and can rapidly spread to the brain and other organs. Initial symptoms are minor, such as intermittent coughing, persistent hoarseness, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), unilateral earache or ganglions. The FVH ENT Department has become the reference centre in Vietnam to detect and treat throat/neck cancers.
    Warning signs
may seem trivial but must be taken into consideration, especially after a certain age.

Such symptoms often arise unilaterally (on one side) and will become bilateral only when the cancer develops. The symptoms may persist, recur frequently and not respond to anti-inflammatory drugs:

    • Prolonged hoarseness or Dysphonia (change of voice) Hoarseness does not necessarily indicate laryngeal cancer but needs to be checked if symptoms persist
    • Dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing) or Odynophagia (pain produced by swallowing).
    • Ulcer or hardened area on the tongue or below the tongue
    • Persistent sore throat on one side
    • One-sided nasal congestion or nose bleed without inflammatory or infectious symptoms, especially when associated with tinnitus
    • Cervical ganglion: one-sided, hard, painless lump or knot under the skin

Snoring & Obstructive Breathing

We often joke about snoring but physical problems within the breathing passages and throat can cause serious, and even life-threatening complications. Snoring is a symptom of obstructed breathing which disrupts the bodies sleep pattern. In obstructed sleep apnea (OSA), the breathing obstruction lasts for several seconds, occurring repeatedly through the night reducing the level of oxygen in the blood which causes headaches, difficulty in concentrating and memory loss, particularly in the morning.

There are a number of techniques available to the FVH ENT specialists to treat breathing obstruction, including simple surgery, laser surgery and radiofrequency

Sore Throat: acute and chronic pharyngitis, persistent cough, and other causes of sore throat can be investigated and treated in our department

Conditions Affecting Voice can all be treated at FV Hospital:

  • Hoarseness
  • Paralysis of nerves
  • Tumour
  • Cancer or benign tumour / polyps
  • Inflammation due to strenuous or overuse of voice.
