The Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department is the watchdog of the Hospital Information System (HIS) maintaining continuous operational efficiency and interactivity across all key hospital functions. These include: patient registration to billing and discharge; from procurement and stock management, through to General Ledger reconciliation: from electronic medical records storage and retrieval to statistics and reporting.
The co-ordination and interaction of all departments includes support for the doctors’ daily activities and ensures that a patient’s medical history, lab results, x-rays, prescriptions and other relevant information are readily available to every doctor, nurse and technician.
The computer programme uses a state-of-the-art software system called Microsoft Amalga HIS. Specifically designed for international standard hospitals – the system is basically the same as the one used by Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok but especially adapted to the needs of FV Hospital – utilizing a network infrastructure based on high-speed fiber optic technology, backed by an array of powerful and dedicated servers. The scalable, integrated Microsoft Amalga HIS delivers a complete, agile hospital information system that manages all hospital functions with one affordable, integrated solution. As a result, it helps improve the hospital’s operational efficiency, care quality and patient experience by providing clinicians with a single, customized view of healthcare information.
Being one of the 4 hospitals in South East Asia using the Microsoft Amalga HIS system, FVH aims to become the first paperless hospital in Vietnam.

The ICT Department also ensures that all other FVH communication means are functioning to deliver the 5-star facilities’ standards expected (for example, the internal telephone system, video conferencing, broad-band internet access, the collaborative e-mail system, website maintenance and up-dating) thus ensuring that the latest technology is applied as appropriate and when available.
