  A World-Class Facility

 A 21st Century Hospital

Introduction

FV Hospital is 100% foreign-owned; it is financed by a group of French, Swiss and Belgian doctors - all very experienced healthcare professionals - supported by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).

Due to the nature of the sponsorship, FV Hospital has been built and is managed following stringent guidelines that applied during the conceptual phase, the building construction phase and, now, during our day-to-day operations.

Officially opened in 2003, FVH is recognised as an international-standard general-tertiary hospital offering a wide range of medical and surgical services – all under one roof - from consultation and diagnosis, through to the completion of the patient’s treatment. We currently attend to over 150,000 patients a year, utilising one or more of our 30 specialised departments.

Efficiency through Technology

FVH is a equipped throughout with the latest medical technology. By utilising state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge surgical techniques, we are able to optimise the cost efficiency of your healthcare facility. In combination with the skills of our surgical team, these technologies allow us to perform the new minimally invasive surgeries, such as laparascopic and video-assisted endoscopic procedures. Surgical interventions that once required a week’s recovery can now be performed on a day’s surgery basis, eliminating the costs associated with lengthy hospital stay and non-working convalescence.

We implement established international standard procedures for sterilisation and infection control, using Getinge autoclaves and sterilisers. We utilise many surgical materials designed for single use, which dramatically reduces the possibility of infection. Also, we are continually up-grading equipment and technology in all our departments to better treat and care for our patients. Programmes for regular and thorough maintenance of medical and non-medical equipment are in accordance with the standards mandated by the international regulatory bodies, as specified in our Patient Charter.

Operational Standards

  • Organisation – as a facility truly committed to international healthcare standards, FVH is structured upon the uncompromising standards set down by the worldwide accreditation bodies (including patient rights, confidentiality, records, blood safety ; intensive staff training ; policies and procedures ; management support)
  • Governance / Accountability / Transparency – as a condition of IFC and ADB finance, a number of rules and guidelines need to be adhered to in the daily management of the facility; purchasing procedures, management structure, management operations, equipment usage and responsibility, accounting procedures – this last condition is regularly monitored by KPMG, the respected international auditors.
  • Policies / procedures – are of the highest international standards and are clearly referred to in the Patient Charter.
  • Training of staff - an on-going commitment which is supervised by both senior staff members and visiting specialists – covers three key areas :
    • knowledge and skills training to ensure that all staff are fully cognizant with the latest technical advances and healthcare procedures
    • language training to ensure that patients can be clearly understood and can clearly understand proscribed treatment, hospitalisation and protocol
    • customer service, the patient is our primary concern. Our mission is to provide the highest quality service possible – medical and non-medical – to each and every patient.
  • Waste management/cleanliness/hygiene – internationally accepted procedures and guidelines are strictly adhered to (as stipulated in the accreditation process) as they are as essential to the well-being of patients as to the overall efficient running of the hospital. Specifically, FVH is committed to :
    • prevent and minimise the production of waste through integrated systems and managed practices
    • reuse or recycle waste where feasible
    • treat or arrange treatment of waste by environmentally sound methods
    • dispose of residues in permitted, controlled and properly designed disposal sites, and phase out the use of polyvinyl chloride materials with the availability of suitable replacement materials.

Committees

Correct procedural efficiency is essential in ensuring international standards. FVH has several committees comprising senior surgeons and technical personnel who oversee key medical activities.

Medical Advisory Board (MAB)

A self-regulatory body in which the doctors are associated with the management of the hospital. The primary concern of the board is to ensure that the highest degree of professionalism and staffing is followed to maintain the international standards our patients expect. For example:

    • Evaluating and checking doctors’ credentials
    • Organisation and staffing of OPD, Operating Theatre, ICU and Wards
    • Ethics
    • Professional conduct of medical and non-medical staff

Hospital Information System (HIS)

FVH offers many modern medical and administrative innovations, one of which is HIS, an active work file which allows medical staff full access to all patient information, 24 hours-a-day. The advanced software for this system (known as “H 2000”) was first developed for the Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok and subsequently purchased and adapted for FVH.
