  Discharge Procedures

When you have fully recovered, your doctor will inform you, at least one day in advance, of your coming discharge from FV Hospital. In accordance with FVH policy, we ask you to depart before 11:00am, on the day of your official discharge. Please note that an additional charge may be added to the bill of patients who stay in their rooms after 11:00am.

Discharge During Office Hours (Monday – Friday, 08 :00 – 19 :00 hrs and Saturday, 08 :00 – 14 :00 hrs)

To simplify matters, either you, a relative, or a friend can complete the discharge process with our staff. A detailed report of all charges can be supplied, upon request. Our Ward Secretary, or the Guest Relations Officer will be delighted to assist you should you require any further explanation.

Payments are usually completed at the Main Cashier, located on the Ground Floor (turn right out of the visitors lifts), where you or one of your relatives will pay your total bill and complete check-out formalities. For certain patients arrangements can be made for the payment and discharge formalities to be conducted in the room.

If your insurance company has guaranteed your medical expenses, you will still need to check out at the Main Cashier, to approve your charges and to sign your bill. Thank you.

Discharge During Off-hours

You will be escorted to the Accident & Emergency Department Cashier, located on the Ground Floor, where payment can be made and check-out formalities completed.

Please note that we cannot issue discharge medications during off-hours.

Discharge Medications

We want to ensure that you receive the best care following your discharge by offering only medications that conform to international standards. At the FV Hospital Pharmacy, all medications received are from approved suppliers, are stored in the correct conditions and are guaranteed to meet manufacturers’ specifications. The correct procedure for the collection of any medication is detailed below:

  • The Ward Secretary will inform you when your bill is ready for payment and you will be given the doctor’s prescription
  • Show your prescription to the Main Cashier, who will scan it and transmit it electronically to the FVH Pharmacy.
  • After completing payment, proceed to the Out-Patient Department (OPD) where the FVH Pharmacy is located, to collect your medication.
  • The Pharmacist will explain the prescription: what the medication is for, how and when to take it and how to refill the prescription should such action be required

What You Will Receive the Day of Your Discharge

  • A certificate of hospitalization, signed by your doctor
