Opportunity to treat retinopathy with Singapore’s leading ophthalmologists at FV

Special event of Ophthalmology department at  FV Hospital in the beginning of 2018 will welcome two leading retinal specialists of the National Eye Center Singapore (SNEC) – Dr. Doric Wong and Dr. Gavin Tan to examine, counsel and treat patients with retinal diseases in 19 and 20-1-2018.

These annual visits have helped many patients prevent and treat dangerous complications as well as avoid visual damage and lose sight

This is an opportunity for patients with severe myopia, retinopathy due to diabetes and macular disorders, retinopathy in children, especially premature babies.

The retinopathy initially appears without any symptoms that could only be detected with specialized eye examination techniques. Early detection of retinopathy will help preventing and treating dangerous complications as well as avoiding visual damage and loss of vision

Dr. Doric Wong is the Dean of SNEC. He completed his medical degree and master degree in ophthalmology in Singapore. In 1997-1998, he worked as a SNEC intern doctor and an international intern doctor at the Manhattan Hospital in New York, USA.

Doric Wong’s main specialty is retinopathy, including retinopathy complications due to diabetes, retinal detachment, and macular disorders such as macular edema, hyperplasia of the retina, and pathological retina. He is also an expert in surgery for complicated childhood retinopathy or reconstructive surgery in front of the eye.

In addition, Dr. Doric Wong is a professional internist in the treatment of major disorders of the retina such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy,..

Dr. Doric Wong is also a senior specialist in Cataract and General Ophthalmology. For him, cataract surgery is an important part of clinical work.

Dr. Gavin Tan is a senior ophthalmologist at SNEC and also a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Duke School of Medicine (National University of Singapore).

Dr. Gavin Tan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and medicine from the National University of Singapore in 2003. Dr. Gavin Tan won a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Singapore Medical Academy in 2012. He is currently studying postdoctoral in Retinal Pathology at SNEC

Dr. Gavin Tan’s expertise is in pathology, genetics, and retinopathy, including retinopathy due to diabetes, especially retinopathy in Asian as well as retinal detachment due to aging.  He also treats all patients with retinopathy like retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, and macular disorders
