This message was at the heart of the “Tea Talk with Doctors” programme on the topic “Monitoring the Early Development of the Foetus”, organised by FV Hospital on the afternoon of 24 January 2026 at Café De Paris, Indochine Lobby. The programme welcomed 50 couples preparing for pregnancy, as well as mothers in the early months of pregnancy, and took place in a warm, friendly, and open atmosphere.

The first three months of pregnancy are considered the foundation stage, as they play a critical role in the formation and development of the foetus. This period is also marked by significant physical and psychological changes for expectant mothers. Careful preparation before pregnancy, early screening, and proper monitoring from the beginning are therefore essential factors for a healthy and safe pregnancy.

At the event, Dr Vo Thi Thanh Van, MSc, from FV Thomson Maternity, provided a comprehensive overview of the key monitoring milestones during the first three months of pregnancy. Through friendly and easy-to-understand sharing, Dr Thanh Van helped parents better understand the foetus’s early development, the role of ultrasound and screening tests, and how to actively collaborate with their doctor throughout pregnancy monitoring. This also serves as an important preparatory step, helping expectant mothers feel more reassured as they move into the next stages of the pregnancy journey.

Next, Dr Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu, MSc, Specialist Level II, Head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, shared insights into the role of nutrition during pregnancy preparation and throughout the first three months of pregnancy. She emphasised that nutrition is not simply about “eating enough”, but about “eating right” to build a strong physical foundation for the mother, support implantation, and promote the foetus’s early development.

Especially during Tet, when many traditional foods are high in protein, fat, sugar, and salt, the doctor offered practical guidance to help pregnant women make safe, balanced, and appropriate food choices. Food groups that should be prioritised include high-quality protein, green vegetables, fresh fruit, whole grains, and essential micronutrients such as folic acid, iron, calcium, and DHA. At the same time, she clearly highlighted foods that pregnant women should limit or avoid throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding, helping to reduce the potential risks to both maternal health and the baby’s development.

The live Q&A session was lively, with many questions about Tet nutrition, first-trimester screening tests, and common concerns during early pregnancy.

At the end of the programme, participating families captured meaningful moments together and visited the FV Thomson Maternity. Built to international standards, the maternity unit is designed to provide a safe, gentle, and respectful childbirth experience.

“Tea Talk with Doctors” is not only a knowledge-sharing session, but also an opportunity for FV Hospital to accompany families from the very first steps of the journey to parenthood. It helps build a strong foundation for a healthy and fulfilling pregnancy.
