FV HOSPITAL ORGANISES CME SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE CLINICAL CHALLENGES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF GYNAECOLOGICAL PATHOLOGIES

Gynaecological pathologies are becoming increasingly diverse and complex, requiring an individualised approach and close multidisciplinary collaboration. This includes the management of challenging cases, the optimal treatment of precancerous lesions, and the selection of appropriate therapeutic strategies for each patient. As a result, modern obstetrics and gynaecology practice demands not only strong technical expertise but also comprehensive clinical thinking that is continuously updated in line with the latest international guidelines and recommendations.

With a strong commitment to continuously improving treatment quality and standardising medical practice in accordance with international standards for healthcare professionals, FV Hospital is organising a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Scientific Conference titled Clinical Challenges in the Management of Gynaecological Pathologies.

SPEAKER INFORMATION:

Vu Truong Son, MD, MSc – Medical Director, FV Hospital (Organiser’s Representative)

Dr Vu Truong Son graduated from Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2007 and subsequently served as a lecturer at the university for two years. In 2009, he obtained a Master’s degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the Francophone Institute for Tropical Medicine (IFMT).

He joined FV Hospital in 2013 and was appointed Head of the Infectious Diseases Department in mid-2022. In May 2023, Dr Son assumed the additional role of Deputy Medical Director. From August 2024, he was entrusted with the position of Acting Medical Director and was officially appointed Medical Director of FV Hospital in February 2025.

Throughout his tenure at FV Hospital, Dr Son has been highly regarded by the Hospital Board and trusted by colleagues for his leadership and professional expertise. He has played a pivotal role in developing and implementing key hospital-wide policies, particularly in global infectious disease preparedness and infection prevention and control. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he made significant contributions to the Infection Control Unit and the Infectious Diseases Department, helping to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.


Bui Chi Thuong, MD, PhD – Head of Obstetrics, Gia Dinh People’s Hospital (Chairman)

With more than 25 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, Dr Bui Chi Thuong is one of the leading specialists in the management of high-risk pregnancies and in the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological conditions affecting women across different life stages. His areas of particular expertise include menopause-related disorders, anaemia, and calcium deficiency.

Dr Thuong obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1999 and completed the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency Programme from 2000 to 2004 at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. He earned a Master’s degree in Medicine in 2004 and successfully defended his PhD in Medicine in 2012. He has also undertaken extensive international training, including advanced laparoscopic surgery in Stuttgart, Germany, short-term training in gynaecological aesthetic procedures, and modern medical education programmes in the United States.

Dr Thuong is the author of more than 50 scientific publications in national and international medical journals. His research includes international studies on organic calcium supplementation and consensus guidelines on the prevention of caesarean section scar formation, as well as clinical guidelines on endometriosis management and the medical treatment of ectopic pregnancy with methotrexate. His notable research contributions focus on ectopic pregnancy, the health impact of electronic cigarette use on oral cancer, and the management of Zika virus infection in pregnancy.

In recognition of his significant contributions to medical science, Dr Thuong has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Central Youth Union’s Creative Youth Medal, as well as First Prize and Outstanding Awards at city-level and national young scientists’ scientific conferences.


Vo Trieu Dat, MD, MSc – Head of FV Thomson Maternity Department, FV Hospital (Moderator)

Dr Vo Trieu Dat graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in 2005 and obtained his Master’s degree in Medicine in 2010. After gaining clinical experience at Hung Vuong Hospital, he joined FV Hospital in 2009 and later completed advanced specialist training at Beaujon Hospital, France, from 2015 to 2016.

In 2017, Dr Dat was appointed Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Vinmec Nha Trang Hospital before returning to FV Hospital in 2018, where he has continued to contribute to the development of maternity services. He currently serves as Head of the FV Thomson Maternity Department. Prior to this appointment, he held multiple leadership roles at FV Hospital, including Deputy Head and Acting Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department during different periods.

Under Dr Dat’s leadership, the department has focused not only on the advancement of modern obstetric and gynaecological techniques, but also on the development of specialised services, including breast surgery and comprehensive management of high-risk pregnancies. He has led several key initiatives at FV Hospital, notably the QRS-PelviCenter pelvic floor training and rehabilitation programme, as well as the introduction of water labour services—one of the first initiatives of its kind in Viet Nam—offering women a natural pain relief option without epidural anaesthesia. Through his clinical expertise, leadership capabilities, and patient-centred approach, Dr Vo Trieu Dat has earned strong professional recognition and the trust of both colleagues and patients.


Tran Nhat Thang, MD, PhD – Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City.

With over 20 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, particularly in high-risk pregnancy management and foetal medicine, Dr Tran Nhat Thang is one of the leading specialists in Viet Nam. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine and Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City and completed several years of advanced training in France, specialising in diagnostic ultrasound, foetal medicine, and perinatal nutrition.

Dr Thang has previously served as a senior consultant physician at Tu Du Hospital and University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, and as a lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City.

He is currently one of the key consulting specialists at FV Hospital, providing multidisciplinary expertise in the management of complex and high-risk pregnancies.

With a strong academic foundation and extensive clinical experience, Dr Thang delivers individualised treatment strategies for each patient and actively participates in professional training programmes and scientific conferences at both national and international levels.


Wang Junjie – Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Thomson Women’s Clinic & Cancer Surgery, Thomson Medical Centre, Novena.

Dr Wang Junjie graduated with an MBBS degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG).

With more than 17 years of clinical experience, Dr Wang was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship for advanced training in minimally invasive gynaecological oncology surgery in Switzerland and France.

His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, advanced deep pelvic endoscopic surgery, VNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery), hysteroscopic surgery, and comprehensive general obstetrics and gynaecology care.

From 2022 to 2025, Dr Wang served as Head of Gynaecological Oncology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore, and co-founded Singapore’s first OncoFertility Clinic, pioneering fertility preservation for cancer patients.


Duong Bich Thuy, MD, PhD – Senior Consultant, Infectious Disease Department, FV Hospital

Dr Duong Bich Thuy graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in 2007 and completed her Infectious Diseases Residency Programme at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in 2010. With a strong focus on clinical medicine and research, she went on to obtain a PhD in Clinical Medicine from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, in 2018.

Her clinical and research interests focus on emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Dr Thuy has particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex infections requiring close monitoring and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Prior to joining FV Hospital, Dr Thuy held several key clinical positions at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, including Deputy Head of the Adult Emergency, Intensive Care and Poison Control Department from 2016. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as Deputy Director of the three-tier Field Hospital No. 14 in 2021, where she was directly involved in clinical leadership and the management of severe cases.

Since 2023, Dr Duong Bich Thuy has been working in the Infectious Disease Department at FV Hospital, continuing to deliver international-standard, evidence-based care with a strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.
