MORE THAN 200 VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATED IN THE 10TH ‘GIVE BLOOD – GIVE HOPE’ AT FV HOSPITAL

The 10th “Give Blood – Give Hope” charity programme, organised by FV Hospital in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion and Haematology Hospital (BTH), had participation of more than 200 volunteers. More than previous years, the 10th programme welcomed active participation from patients, their relatives, FV staff, and the neighbourhood community.

The 10th “Give Blood – Give Hope” programme recorded the largest number of participants in the last 5 years.

Out of a total of 203 registrations, 163 qualified and 40 were deferred. With an average of 350ml per blood unit this batch collected amounting to 165 blood units. FV Hospital sincerely appreciates the important contribution of volunteers during this 2nd round of blood donation in 2023.

Mr T.H. Thanh, a resident living and working near FV, participated in the “Give Blood – Give Hope” programme at FV for the first time told us: “I learned about the programme through friends, so I came here. The process at FV is fast and safe; I didn’t have to wait long.” Like many first-time participants, Mr Thanh believes that he would love if the information about blood donations at FV was more widely known and more accessible, especially to residents living around the hospital.

The 10th “Give Blood – Give Hope” programme marked a remarkable increase in the number of participants compared to recent years. In addition to the contributions from FV staff, patients, relatives, and customers who were at FV during the event, the neighbourhood community also actively participated in. Remarkably, the programme witnessed the participation of many local and international interns studying and working at the hospital.

Nurses always play a key role during blood donation sessions at FV.

Mr Pham Minh Thi, Head Nurse of the Emergency Department, shared: “Donating blood is a humanitarian action, but partly I see it is also a responsibility for medical staff.” Like his colleagues at FV, Mr Thi has participated in all sessions over the past 10 years of the programme. Through this act of giving, the medical staff believe that contributing to the treatment of patients is also supporting their own work.

“Give Blood– Give Hope” is an annual charity programme taking place twice a year, organised by FV Hospital in association with the Blood Transfusion and Haematology Hospital. The 10th programme was the last blood donation event scheduled in 2023.

The programme has become a cherished tradition for all FV staff and extended to patients, relatives, and visitors of FV. Through blood donations, FV Hospital aims to make a positive contribution to the treatment of patients in Ho Chi Minh City and the neighbouring areas.
