3. MANAGEMENT AND USE OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT PROCESS AT FV

During the symposium, FV Hospital shared about their own process of management and operation of medical equipment when initially applied. The basic procedure consists of 3 steps: establishing appropriate procedure; identifying and managing risks; and analysing shortcomings, collecting data and implementing improvements.

According to Mr Monojit Mitra, Facility Director of FV Hospital, procedure establishment includes selecting and purchasing equipment, checking when buying new equipment, and implementing the installation and maintenance plan. These steps are very important for the hospital in ensuring that the highest standards are compiled to and the quality requirements are met. In addition, to further ensure this, staffs are educated and trained to follow the exact procedure established.

Furthermore, risk management in all procedures is an integral part of medical device management. Searching and analysing risks and establishing management practices are always checked and are guaranteed to be implemented regularly.

Finally, collection, analysis and improvement of data are the basis for the hospital to identify where improvements are needed. At the same time, analysis of the performance of the equipment, engineers or supportive performance of a supplier are also applied.
