Meningococcal Vaccine
Meningococcal disease is a serious and potentially fatal bacterial infection caused by Neisseria meningitidis. It can lead to meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord) or septicaemia (a bloodstream infection) and can cause death within 24 hours.
Recommended For
- People with certain high-risk conditions, including weakened immunity, asplenia, HIV, or during community outbreaks.

Common side-effects
You may experience mild side-effects following vaccination. Most side-effects last no more than a couple of days and are part of the immune system’s natural response to the vaccine.
Common reactions include:
- Pain, swelling and redness at the injection site
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Mild fever
- Muscle, body aches.
