The Shining Star of August 2026 has been awarded to Ms Thai Truong Thuy Tien, Liaison Officer. With her dedication and professionalism, Ms Tien continually overcomes challenges and makes valuable contributions to the work of the Liaison Office.
Having spent 10 years at FV, Ms Thai Truong Thuy Tien has had a memorable journey filled with diverse experiences in healthcare. Drawn to work that is deeply human-centred, she spent her first five years as a Medical Secretary.
A turning point came during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, she was pregnant and navigating lockdown while facing many uncertainties. Fortunately, she safely welcomed her baby at the FV Thomson Maternity. Becoming a mother led her to consider taking a break from her career to spend more time caring for her child.
Understanding her concerns, management suggested that she transition to a Liaison Officer role, which offered more flexible working hours. This allowed her to continue supporting patients and doctors at FV and partner healthcare facilities while having greater peace of mind to care for her family.
Over the years, FV has fostered a deep sense of connection for Ms Tien. If she had to choose one reason to stay at FV long-term, she believes it would be the “FV people”. Alongside the joy of sharing and supporting one another, she cherishes countless fond memories of standing side by side with doctors and patients through challenging moments as they worked together to restore health and wellbeing.
Her role goes far beyond connecting and coordinating care between doctors (ED/RD) and patients. She also collaborates with various hospital departments and teams to streamline medical examinations, manage information and ensure related tasks run smoothly, providing patients from other facilities with the best possible experience when they are referred to FV.
For Ms Tien, work satisfaction comes from being able to help patients and doctors. She shares: “Whenever I can help a patient or a doctor, even with something small, I am always happy to do so.”
Each working day brings new situations and experiences that require initiative, flexibility and a strong sense of responsibility, along with the occasional challenge. Drawing on her years of experience, she believes the key to making each day at work fulfilling is to put herself in others’ shoes, understand their perspectives and share their experiences.
The August 2026 Shining Star award is a well-deserved recognition of Ms Thai Truong Thuy Tien’s quiet contributions, as well as those of the Liaison Office. We wish her continued passion and enthusiasm as she brings value to patients and colleagues by helping connect doctors with those who need their care.
