Dr Bui Le Phuoc Thu Thao is a highly respected Radiation Oncologist with nearly 20 years of experience considered as an expert in radiotherapy. She was one of the pioneers who started and developed radiation oncology in Vietnam.
Dr Thao obtained her Medical Doctor degree in 2005 from the University of Medicine of Ho Chi Minh City, where she subsequently completed the famously extremely difficult Oncology Residency programme. She became Specialist Level I in 2009 and Specialist Level II in 2016.
A strong advocate of lifelong learning, Dr Thao went through prestigious international fellowships. She received the IAEA–PACT Scholarship for Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) training at the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS) in 2013, followed by the BNP PARIBAS Fellowship for advanced IMRT, VMAT and SBRT training at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) in 2015. Her professional excellence has been recognized with the Young Investigator Award at the 9th Conference of the Asian Clinical Oncology Society in Japan (2010) and a Travel Grant Award at the 24th Asia Pacific Cancer Conference in South Korea (2017).
Dr Thao has served as a Radiation Oncologist at HCMC Oncology Hospital and Vinmec, and as Deputy Head of Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at Tam Anh Hospital. Her wealth of expertise will continue to flourish at FV Hospital’s Hy Vong Cancer Centre, where she is now Head of the Department.
She is an active member of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO).
