International Nurses Day 2026: Honouring Those Who Keep the Lamp of Care Burning

On 27 May 2026, FV Hospital held a special ceremony to mark International Nurses Day 2026. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the compassion and quiet sacrifices of nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants and every member of FV Hospital’s Nursing Division.

Opening the ceremony, Ms Pauline Lee, Nursing Director at FV Hospital, welcomed the team: “Although our celebration takes place slightly after the official international day, it is an absolute honour to welcome you all here today.“

In addition to celebrating nurses, Ms Pauline also expressed her gratitude to the midwifery team in recognition of International Day of the Midwife (5 May). She praised their quiet yet essential contribution to maternal and new born care, particularly at a time when the profession faces ongoing workforce shortages.

Ms Pham Thi Thanh Mai, Chief Operating Officer of FV Hospital, shared heartfelt reflections on what makes FV truly unique: “On this special day, we celebrate not only our nurses, but also our midwives, healthcare assistants and every member of the Nursing Division.

This is what sets FV apart. Although your roles may differ, you stand together as one team with a shared purpose: caring for patients and their families with unwavering dedication. Your quiet sacrifices over the years have been the building blocks of FV’s reputation and the foundation of the hospital’s success today.”

The Nursing Oath: A Commitment from the Heart

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was the annual Nursing Oath ceremony, led by Mr Pham Minh Thi, Head Nurse of the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department, on behalf of all FV’s nursing staff.

The oath is more than a tradition. It is a powerful reminder of the nursing profession’s mission: to put patients first, to care with compassion and dedication, and to continually develop professional knowledge and skills.

FV: Nurturing the Next Generation of Nurses

This year’s event also featured personal stories from student nurses currently on clinical placement. Representing their fellow trainees, Bich and Huong shared their experiences of learning and training at FV.

FV Hospital not only provides a professional clinical environment but also offers valuable hands-on experience, helping students understand patient care pathways and develop a deeper appreciation of the responsibilities involved in nursing.

“FV is truly an excellent learning environment and has given us every opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in real clinical settings. The hospital has given us valuable opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience,” a student representative shared.

Celebrating the nursing spirit through music and performance

The celebration came alive with musical performances and a talent competition featuring five teams from across the hospital. One of the highlights of this year’s event was a talent show that used music and performance to share the stories and spirit of the nursing profession.

International Nurses Day 2026 at FV Hospital was more than an occasion to thank those who dedicate themselves to patient care each day.
