On July 4, 2018, FV Hospital docotors successfully performed an autolytic stent placement in combination with intravascular ultrasound for patient Mr Mai Buu Ngoc, who was experiencing stenosis (narrowing) of his coronary artery. This is an advanced technique to minimise risks and complications and prevent the renarrowing and blockage of blood vessels due to thrombosis.
Devoted to his patients and always enthusiastic in the discharge of his duties, Dr Thai is well respected by FV’s Board of Directors and his managers, patients and colleagues. For that reason, in May 2018, Dr Phan Van Thai was appointed Acting Head of the General Surgical Department at FV Hospital.
FV Hospital’s Cardiovascular Department recently gave emergency aid to 78-year-old Nguyen Thi Ky, who was experiencing chest pain and dyspnea. The team performed an electrocardiogram and echocardiogram, which showed that the patient was deficient in blood in the myocardium (muscular tissues of her heart) and her myocardium pulsated poorly.
“Hello, Doctor!” The little girl cheerfully greeted the doctor as soon as she saw him enter. The doctor smiled warmly at her. He was happy to see that she can walk around the room, although she still had a limp and one of her legs was still bandaged. Soon she would be able to run freely on her own feet and play with her friends. The little girl’s name is Pham Gia Han. She is a four-year-old patient recovering well following a surgery to correct a congenital vascular anomaly in her left leg, which she underwent at FV Hospital on July 3, 2018.

From now until December 31, 2018, the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund will cooperate with FV Hospital to offer free of charge treatment for children in difficult circumstances with cardiovascular diseases. Children with congenital diseases who are born into difficult circumstances are at a huge disadvantage when it comes to receiving care – diagnosis and treatment are often too expensive for their families or communities to afford.
Most people take having a healthy body for granted, but for unfortunate children with physical disabilities in difficult circumstances, it’s a dream that seems impossible to achieve. The Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund was established to cover the costs of surgeries to correct malformations so that these children have the chance to live a normal life.
On the morning of June 30, 2018, FV Hospital held the seminar "Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases" at the Continental Hotel, District 1. More than 200 guests attended. The seminar started at 8:30 am, but many people arrived early to experience examinations of the arteries in each of their limbs by advanced ABI apparatus, and to have their body composition anaalysed by the latest INBODY S10 machine. Because results were delivered a few minutes after examination, doctors were able to offer consultations on a case-by-case basis.
Through its One-Dollar Program, the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund is calling for the support of the community to create more opportunities for disabled children in difficult circumstances to live a normal life.
On June 19, the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund helped Dang Minh Thien, 7, undergo treatment for stenosis (narrowing) of the mitral valve and right pulmonary artery. After the hour-long surgery at FV Hospital's Cardiology Department, his condition improved. This was the first time this year that a paediatric patient with congenital heart disease has received support from the Fund. The entire cost of his care, VND 105 million, was financed by the Fund.
Recent technological advances have brought about a revolution on an international scale for microbiology laboratories. These new technologies are helping microbiology laboratories ensure faster and more accurate diagnoses to patients and clinicians.
