Every year, millions of women worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2024, an estimated 2.43 million new cases and nearly 694,000 deaths from breast cancer were recorded globally. In Vietnam, GLOBOCAN 2022 estimated 24,563 new cases, making breast cancer the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women.
Behind these statistics are the individual health stories of women everywhere. Therefore, Pink Ribbon Month in October is not only an opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer, but also a reminder for women to pay more attention to their own health and that of their loved ones, including their mothers, sisters and friends.
You can start taking care of your breast health with simple steps, such as listening to your body, learning more about breast health, and booking a screening appointment for yourself and your loved ones.
At the FV Breast Care Centre, Dr Phung Ngoc Thu, Specialist Level I, who has specialised training in mastology, will consult with you and guide you in choosing a breast cancer screening programme tailored to your breast tissue characteristics, age, family history and other risk factors.

You can also explore two specialised breast cancer screening programmes at FV:
- Standard breast cancer screening: Designed for women with non-dense breast tissue and an average level of risk.
- Breast cancer screening for dense breast tissue: Designed for women with dense breast tissue, when doctors determine that additional diagnostic imaging is appropriate.
Alongside diagnostic imaging methods such as ultrasound and mammography, FV is equipped with the latest-generation Philips 3.0 Tesla MRI system. This system assists doctors in evaluating the breasts when clinically indicated, particularly for women at high risk of breast cancer or when further investigation is needed for lesions that cannot be fully assessed using other methods.
This MRI system offers patients a more comfortable scanning experience, with shorter scan times and up to 80% less noise. During the scan, patients are also provided with a call bell so they can contact the technician if needed.
Join FV in raising awareness about breast health and building healthy habits of proactive self-care, during Pink Ribbon Month and throughout the journey ahead.
If you are wondering which screening programme is right for you or your loved one, please contact the FV Breast Care Centre for personalised advice on the most appropriate screening option.
