World Breastfeeding Week 2026: Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life – Strengthen What Works

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated worldwide to raise awareness of the vital role of breastfeeding in improving the health of infants and mothers, while contributing to the sustainable development of communities.

With the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life – Strengthen What Works”, the 2026 campaign calls on healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, families, and communities to continue supporting breastfeedingthrough evidence-based practices that benefit both mothers and babies, while creating an environment where every mother can breastfeed with confidence.

In response to this year’s World Breastfeeding Week, FV Hospital continues to raise awareness of the importance of breastfeeding through various public awareness and health education activities. At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting families on their breastfeeding journey.

As a Mother and Baby-Friendly Hospital, FV regards breastfeeding support not merely as a medical recommendation, but as an integral part of our daily maternal and neonatal care through the following initiatives:

• Maintaining birth preparation classes, health education programmes, and community activities to enhance knowledge of maternal and newborn care.
• Facilitating skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby immediately after birth, whenever clinically appropriate.
• Supporting early initiation of breastfeeding within the first hour after birth.
• Guiding mothers on correct and effective breastfeeding techniques.
